Six Months Old!

Today our baby boy turned six months old. Hard to believe! Here's a journey through Truman's half birthday.

Good morning, Everyone!

I still love to watch my mobile... especially first thing in the morning!

Tummy time is going stong!

Here's my profile.

En garde! I mean... a picture in just my diaper?! Oh, Mom!

A nice, long nap... what a great way to celebrate my special day.

Good thing I rested up! Looks like there's a party going on!

All this for me? Six months old is pretty nice!

Whoa, Apba! What is that?!

The best way to end any day... cuddling with Apba. Goodnight.

The Eyes Have It

Or more importantly... don't have it. Today we saw the opthalmologist. We'd been going at least once a month (once every two weeks for awhile there) to check on Truman's eye development. He, like many preemies born at his gestation, had a condition called ROP (to learn more about ROP, please visit: http://www.nei.nih.gov/health/rop/ ). Many children grow out of this condition, but in some it requires surgery. We'd been anxiously awaiting the news we got today: The ROP has resolved! Truman's eyes are "perfect"! We do not have to go back to the eye doctor until the fall, because all is well now, and from here on out it will just be routine exams. MORE good news. What a great week!

When we got home, Mom gave me a bath... then I was ready for a warm snuggly nap.

A very... good... nap.

Double Digits

Today was our day at the apnea clinic. Word on the apnea monitor is that we need to keep it at least another month. In other news, Truman has reached double digits!! He now weighs 10 pounds! Also, he is 22 inches long! The doctors say he's doing great, and they are even allowing him to eat as much as he wants whenever he wants (we'd been on a fairly strict schedule, especially concerning quantity, up to this point) and have told us to reduce the number of calories with which we fortify his feeds (meaning he's growing well and doesn't need as much help). They said his breathing sounds great, he looks good (even commenting on his "chins"), and developmentally he is doing well right now. They did also happen to mention how cute he is. YAY. We love good reports!

I'm all dressed and ready to go to the doctor!

What? Where are my feet, you ask? Well... my pants are helping keep my sock-clad feet warm.

Silly.

Now I'm really ready to go! Look, no carseat cover! I can see out!

We're back, and whew... my schedule was all disrupted today... I need a nap!

Sleep, Heavenly Sleep

Truman has started sleeping seven hours a night... His parents are so proud! Also, he recently discovered just how fascinating his hand is, and he's been staring at it every chance he gets (which is pretty often).

I rolled from my back to my side... and I really want to roll to my tummy... but it is way harder than it looks!

I'm psyching my parents out by wearing an outfit that says one thing ("all-nighter") and doing another (sleeping seven hours). Fun!

More Tummy Time

I'm spending lots of time on my tummy these days!

Bathtime, Naptime, Playtime Fun!

Father and son had a fun-filled day today!

Hello! See what a big boy I am? I'm in the "infant" side of the bathtub... I outgrew the "newborn" hammock!

Under the chins and past the creases to Truman's neck we go. (AKA "good luck, Apba!")

Nothing like a good nap after a bath!

Look, Apba! Look how long I can hold my head up!

Mr. Ribbit

Truman has made good friends with his froggie rattle, and apparently this frog has tricks to teach!

Who goes there?

Oh, hello, Mr. Ribbit. What? What's that face you're making? You want me to make it, too?

Boioioioioioioing!

Sprawling

Truman had his monthly pediatric appointment yesterday, and all went well. He weighs 9 lbs. 8 oz! Also, we were told that we could let Truman sleep as long as he wants at night (we were still waking him up to feed him every few hours). Yay! So, now, he is sleeping about six hours at a time overnight. Soooooo nice! Today has been a sleeping day, and, as you can see, when he is sleeping, he is comfortable.

My crib is comfortable this way...

My crib is comfortable that way...

And hey... the floor isn't too bad, either!

Valentine's Day!

Our Valentine's Day consisted of an at-home soiree, and, of course, Truman had to dress for the occasion!

I have to rest up so I can be awake for all the festivities!

I pick Apba to be my Valentine... so cuddly!

Mom, tell me more about Valentine's Day...

Look what I got from some lovely people! Thank you!!

Goodnight, everyone... thanks for visiting me for Valentine's!

Hot Off the Press! Truman's New Skill!

I put Truman down on his tummy today, and what did he do? He rolled over! Exciting!! So, I got out the video camera, just in case, and he did it again! He did it a third time for some still photos. Nice of him, huh?

Watch out, Mom and Dad, I'm on the move!

Happy Feet

Truman shows off his happy feet

I tried adding a soundtrack to the video, but I couldn't get around the copyright protection. Who needs Stevie Wonder when you have Truman, right?

UPDATE [February 12, 9:17 AM]: Apparently (thanks for asking, Grandma), a back story is necessary to explain why Mom and Dad are laughing. Before shooting the video, Truman was crying because he was hungry. Dad had set him down to film him rooting for the pacifier, but once the camera started rolling, Truman stopped crying and STARTED DANCING. This became funny and "unbelievable" because Truman kept this up for over eight minutes. Dad finally had to put an end to the dancing when he decided that Truman needed to eat. This is an edited video of Truman's best moves.

Truman's kiss

A Surprise Outing!

For Date Night, we decided to hang out with Truman and take him on his first non-medical outing (surprise!).

Apba's lap is soooo comfortable!

Okay, so now for a car seat comparison... when we were getting Truman ready for his outing, I realized he had changed quite a bit. Check it out:

12/7/07
coming home for the first time!

2/8/08
on an outing.

And now, the destination... a place we needed to go... and believed would not be crowded (thankfully, we were right!):

Out in public... at Bloom... our nearest grocery store!

Truman and his mirror

Apba may talk a bit like Stewie in this clip

Happy New Year!

Hello, everyone, and Happy Lunar New Year! It is now the year of the Rat, but of course, our little one is a Golden Pig. Also, Truman had a doctors appointment today, and it turns out that he has officially reached 9 pounds!!

Oooh... it's a new year! What will we do to celebrate?

Fun! One, two, three... ready or not... where are those stuffed animals?!

Food! Yum! But my parents didn't let me have any. Boo.

Family! Whew. I'm tired now. Happy New Year, All!

Corrected Age: 2 Months

If Truman had been born on his due date, he would be two months old today!

Yay, two months old is fun!

Hey, you're two months old, too?? Nice!

Look, I learned to suck my thumb! It's way better than a pacifier.

There's no laughing in baseball.

What? There's no crying in baseball?

Well, then, laughing it is!
