The Many Faces of Truman on a Busy Day

Truman was very busy today, and so were his parents. Truman took his first hearing test... and he passed! The parents recieved training on the home oxygen and apnea monitors that Truman will go home with. Also, an appointment was set up with a local organization (Infant & Toddler Connection) that helps monitor child development through home visits and teaching parents the best ways to teach their children new skills. Then when we got home, the home medical company delivered our initial supply of oxygen. WHEW. We're getting all set up.

Cuddling with Apba in my festive Christmas hat that a nurse gave me.

I can hear in my right ear...

... and I can hear in my left ear!

Those of you who did not vote for "actor" as my future vocation may want to rethink you're vote after you see my impressive display of faces!

Here is my tongue.

Ha... did you like that?

Ooooooooh!

Hm, what's over there?

Niiiiiiiice.

Whew. Hard work making all those faces.

I wonder what my mom is up to wearing that mask all the time?

What do you guys think about all this?

I'm getting ready to go home one day not too far from now... these people are taking me home.

Portable oxygen (left) and apnea monitor (right)

The oxygen crew: E (left, transports from room to room), H (center, stays right where it is), and A (right, for taking out of the house to appointments, etc.)

This is our door... it's pretty important people are aware. As the oxygen delivery man said, "Oxygen makes fire happy."

Three Months Old!

Today, I interviewed a pediatrician's office. I really liked them, and so we now know where Truman will be seeing his doctor (well, in addition to many follow up appointments at Georgetown). Another major accomplishment... getting closer to that light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm three months old today!

Oh, you wanted to see the whole outfit? Here it is!

Thirteen Weeks!

Truman is 13 weeks old today! He got an MRI done today (a requirement before discharge), and the results came back perfectly normal. Yay! No date for discharge yet, but it's starting to look like we're moving in that direction! Here is our handsome young man.

Weight: 1960g (4 lbs. 5 oz.)

Here I am after I ate.

A nap is always nice after a big meal... so I'm hitting the hay.

Socks

Truman wore socks for the very first time today! You may also notice that he is wearing two hats... I think he's trying to start a new trend. Think it will catch on? Also, David and I have our infant CPR class this week, so wish us luck!

Check me out... I am bundled up today!

You like the socks?

That's right... two hats! Beat that!

One tube down!

Truman has done so well at taking his feedings by mouth that they decided to discontinue the feeding tube that had been in his nose! Yay!

Ahhhh... nice!

No News is Good News

So, the day after Thanksgiving was a pretty uneventful day in the NICU, aside from all the visitors for Truman, and that is something for which we are grateful. We now subscribe wholeheartedly to the "no news is good news" philosophy. Also, please check out this link sent to us by a devoted reader of The Truman Show. It is an accurate depiction and offers some good advice. Thank you to all our supporters. We are very happy you're following along with us on this journey.

Yum, Dad!

I'm so proud of my crib I thought I'd show you again.

The long wait to see Truman!

A Very Thankful Thanksgiving.

As if having Truman didn't already make this the most thankful of Thanksgivings, Thanksgiving came with some very big developments for Truman. He came out of the isolette and into an open crib! Also, he went from a high flow nasal cannula to a regular nasal cannula. AND, he was working on taking all of his feedings by mouth!

Here's the front of the first card I made for my parents!

And here's the inside... my handprint is a turkey!

Look at this lovely creation that Laura, a devoted reader of The Truman Show, made so that Truman could be with us at home on Thanksgiving!

Likely the last time you'll see me in an isolette... I'm out of here!

Cuddle time for Truman and Apba... something for which to be very thankful.

Hello! This is my new crib!

Hm. I've never been quite sure that I like having my temperature taken.

Apba is changing my clothes for the first time. He's really good at it!

Whew, I'm sleepy... I hear turkey does that to a person. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. Thanks for visiting!

Milestone: 4 Pounds!

You guys are GOOD! I knew we had the smartest readers out there. A full half of those who guessed when Truman would reach 4 pounds got it right: The week of November 19th! And, at tonight's weigh-in, in fact!

Whew. I did such a good job getting to 4 pounds that Mom said I should just cuddle with her and rest.

Twelve Weeks!

Our handsome son is twelve weeks old today! Here are the latest snapshots and stats.

Weight: 1775 g (3 lbs 15 oz)
Length: 42 cm (16.5 in)

Sleeping Truman. Please notice that I am attempting to hold my own pacifier in my mouth.

Notice anything different? Mom happened to be there when they changed my high flow nasal cannula and feeding tube, so I'm showing off my whole face at one time!

It's feeding time in the NICU. Apba is doing a great job of feeding me a bottle!

Another Visitor!

From halfway across the country, Laura came to see Truman! How sweet! Also, more play time for Truman and David.

Truman is working out with Apba!

Nope! Truman says he is finished!

Father and son. A perfect pair.

Good friends. Good times. Great Truman.

Dinner with Dad

David fed Truman a bottle for the first time today... both did AMAZING. They are so good together!

Mmmm... Cuddling is very good for digestion after a big meal.

Yay Dad and Truman! (Please proceed with humming the theme from Rocky... for the victors!)

Eleven Weeks!

Here he is at (drumroll, please...) eleven weeks old!
Weight: 1645 grams (3 pounds 10 ounces)

Hmm... pondering the meaning of life.

Pondering takes a lot out of a fella... goodnight.

Physical Therapy

Truman has started working with a physical therapist (and a speech therapist... what a busy guy!), and it has been recommended that he practice hanging out on his left side more often, so, true to form, he's doing it like a champ!

Left isn't so bad afterall.

Well, everyone can use a little accountability!
