Four Week Update!

Truman is four weeks old today! Ready for the stats?

Weight: 850 grams (1 lb 14 oz)
Length: 34.5 cm (13.6 in)

Here are some shots from this past week:

A genuinely tiny pacifier magically showed up in Truman's isolette!

Why did Truman try to suffocate his cute little bear, you ask? He didn't... it's all wrapped up to protect the machinery from bear fuzz.

This way, Truman's parents can be with him 24 hours a day.

Story time! Truman's father reads him a good book.

After story time, Dad holds Truman for nap time.

Another nap time.

Sleeping Handsome.

Check out Truman's cool name sign the nurses made for him... AND that colorful blanket was a gift from a nurse, too.

How many adults does it take to set up a pack-n-play? (I'm not even telling how long this accomplishment took.) Poor Truman could be in for some adventures with us around!

Oh, the Life of a Celebrity...

It's not easy being bombarded by cameras and gifts all the time.

No pictures, please... no pictures.

A little bear friend to keep Truman company in the isolette.

First Haircut!

Truman had his first haircut on 9/18/07. (The haircut took place just above his ears... on the temple.) Granted, it may not have been because his hair was too long... but it's still very stylish, don't you think? He may start a new trend.

Growing and Growing!

Time to bring everyone up to date on Truman's weekly growth:

8/28/07 (birth) - 685 grams (1 lb 8 oz)

9/4/07 (1 week) - 620 grams (1 lb 6 oz)

9/11/07 (2 weeks) - 690 grams (1 lb 8 oz)

9/18/07 (3 weeks) - 760 grams (1 lb 11 oz)

Also, he's now up to about 13 inches long (from 12 inches), so we no longer have a "footlong" for a son, but we're all for growth! The theory seems to be that, in general, the faster he puts on weight, the more his body will develop, and the sooner he'll get off the ventilator... so, yay for growing!

Let's Start at the Very Beginning... A Very Good Place to Start

This blog is all about Baby Truman... but a little history never hurt anyone. ;) SO, we'll start from awhile back and bring you right up to date.

August 14th, 2007: Surprise!

Time to go to the hospital (and stay there)! "What's this? I'm only 23 weeks 5 days along... how could this be?" Regardless... it was.... do not pass go; do not collect $200. And so, the adventure began.

August 15th: Get used to hospital life!

Good luck tracking Truman, nurses... he's a fast one!

My wonderful, handsome, supportive husband spending the night (one of many) in the hospital room.

So, I'm wrapped in plastic... why not?

August 24th: Pampered Day

August 25th: We're all set on Waiting

The parents-to-be and a grandfather keep themselves busy

A grandmother in waiting

August 26th: A Birthday Celebration

Now, who doesn't want to celebrate their birthday in a hospital? ;)

August 28th: TRUMAN'S BIRTHDAY!!

Never in a million years did we guess when we woke up that day that it would be THE day... the day our son would be born. It came as a surprise to all of us that the waiting would be no more. Twenty-five weeks and five days... time to go.

Bring on the magnesium sulfate!

Preparing to meet our son... letting it sink in that this would be the end of him being in the womb. Very surreal.

Dr. Dad! Preparing to enter the operating room.

Grandparents awaiting the big event. Wonderful support!

Mom-to-be on the operating table... they have good drugs there!

Welcome to the world, Truman!

Truman's very first night of life outside the womb and inside the isolette.

August 29th: We're so Lucky to have Truman

Our handsome boy is a good sleeper.

Mom sees and touches her son for the first time.

Dad has not lost his sense of humour... all rolled up and trapped in the hospital room curtain.

Learning to walk again after two weeks on bed rest. (And what a lovely outfit, don't you think?)

August 31st: Yay! More grandparents!

Fun times in the hospital room during visiting hours and between trips to see Truman.

A wonderful visitor and a wonderful cook! Yay for Korean soup and all the delicious things that go with it!

Uncle Sam came for a visit!

Two very special family heirloom gifts... very beautiful.

More special gifts from special people.

September 1st: "Holding" our Baby

Check out that fashionable eyewear!! Gotta protect those baby eyes from the bililight.

September 3rd: Camping

Truman is in his tent and ready for camping. I think he may also be making some shadow puppets...

September 9th: Twelve Days Old

We "hold" him every chance we get!

Look at those eyes!

More "holding"... Can you see how the preemie diaper is wrapped around him?

Truman has found toys to play with... and boy does he ever play!

The isolette at a distance. The equipment is truly amazing.

Truman is always so relaxed when his dad holds him.

Can you see what color his eyebrows (and hair) are?
